A deep blue disc-shaped wide-brim hat, Sol is shaped from lightweight A-grade sinamay to perch at an angle on the head, its gently curved brim framing the face. Two large fabric flowers in varying shades of blue sit to one side, their petals detailed with black and red accent centres, while a slender orange ostrich quill extends from the base of one bloom. Hand-made in our London atelier by Merve Bayindir Millinery, a member of the British Fashion Council, Sol is finished to a couture standard, a bold, sculptural statement piece with a feminine finish.

Event: Royal Ascot, the Derby, the Melbourne Cup, garden parties, and formal summer occasions.

Styling: Wear the disc tilted at an angle so the brim curves across the brow and the flowers sit to one side. Its deep blue and orange make a confident statement against white, cream, navy or neutral tailoring. Sweep hair into a low chignon or sleek waves beneath the brim, and keep jewellery bold but minimal so the flowers and quill lead.
