Do I Have to Pay Customs Duties or Import Taxes?
If your order is being delivered outside the United Kingdom, it may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees or other charges imposed by your country’s customs authority.
These charges are determined by the destination country and are not included in the purchase price or complimentary delivery service.
Any customs duties, import taxes or related charges are the responsibility of the customer.

Why Are Customs Charges Not Included?
Import duties and taxes are collected by your country’s government, not by Merve Bayindir Millinery.
As these charges vary between countries—and sometimes even between products—we are unable to collect or calculate them in advance.

Will I Pay Both UK VAT and Import Duties?
No.
For eligible customers outside the United Kingdom, UK VAT is not charged.
Please note that, depending on your location, browser, device or Shopify’s automatic market settings, prices displayed on our website may appear either inclusive or exclusive of UK VAT before checkout.
However, eligible customers outside the United Kingdom will never be charged UK VAT. Where applicable, UK VAT is automatically removed before payment is completed, and your final order summary will always display the correct amount before you confirm your purchase.
You are responsible only for any customs duties, import taxes or other charges imposed by your own country’s customs authority.

Who Collects These Charges?
Customs duties, import taxes and any related charges are collected directly by your local customs authority, usually through DHL Express before delivery.
These payments are not collected by Merve Bayindir Millinery.

What Happens If My Parcel Is Held by Customs?
Occasionally, customs authorities may hold shipments for inspection or request additional documentation.
We carefully monitor every shipment from dispatch until delivery and will be happy to provide any documentation required from our side to help facilitate customs clearance.
However, customs inspections, import procedures and clearance times are entirely controlled by the destination country’s customs authority and remain outside our control.

What Happens If I Refuse to Pay Customs Charges?
If customs duties or import charges are refused, your shipment may be delayed, returned to us or, in some countries, abandoned or destroyed in accordance with local customs regulations.
Where a shipment is returned to us due to unpaid customs charges, any costs incurred—including return shipping, customs duties, brokerage fees or other related charges—may be deducted from any eligible refund in accordance with our Delivery & Returns Policy.
Please note that customs duties, taxes and other government charges collected by your local customs authority cannot be refunded by Merve Bayindir Millinery.
