Temptation of St Antony

This story within the AW17 collection is inspired by one of Dali’s most famous paintings Temptation of St Antony. The work depicts the artist’s interest in the intermediates between heaven and earth.

Bayindir has taken inspiration from Dali’s disproportional Elephants in this scene, as their legs extend higher and higher they symbolise the human desire to excel and strive to move forward even in the face of adversity and in doing so clearing the way for others behind them. However, as the feet of these mammoth beasts are planted on the ground so are humans planted in reality, shifting perceptions of what is real and what is not.

The pieces within this story are elegant and striking, they include a hand painted exclusive Merve’s elephant design seen on a range of styles. These high-end understated pieces are perfect for all occasions as well as including every day wear, enabling the wearer to stand out from the crowd in the most subtle of ways.
